The foundation for my research paper...

My motivation to choose "The Effects of Rock Music" as my research paper topic was an inspiration from my brother's sermon. Below is the sermon that I used as uncited reference for my assignment.

Sermon Title: Frontal lobe and the Last Crisis

There is a 25 year old young man called Phineas Gage.He works in a railway construction firm.His job is to planting the dynamite within the rock and blast off bigmountains so that railway can be built. One early morning, September 13, 1848, this young man was doing his usual work. He plants the dynamite within the rock, doing some exploding calculation. He makes sure everything is ready. And he fire off his bomb. But something happen, instead of the dynamite shoot down to blast therock, the dynamite explode straight toward this young man, Gage! The missile went under his left cheekbone,behind his left eye,through his brain,pierce thru his skulland out again! His front part of the brain, which is also called the frontal lobe, all gone! Many of the railway worker thought that he will surely die. But he did not! Gage was just stunt. Amazingly, he able to regain full consciousness. He able to talk and even walk with the assistance of his workers! He just got some infection on his brain, but within several weeks He recovers! He can talk as usual.He can walk as usual.He can remember things. Remember things even before the accident occur. But one thing change, he is no longer the same Gage. His personality change. Before the accident, this man was a responsible and intelligent worker. He was a good husband. He was known as a person with high moral standard. He was pious. He was a church goer.His work record is excellent. His boss loves him. But some major things were different after the accident.His was no longer the same Gage. His moral decline distinctly. He become very emotional and he get angry easily. He became antisocial. Not long after the injury, he lost interest in church and spiritual things.Gage became irreverent. He is prone to use bad words and excessive profanity. He lost respect to social customs and became totally irresponsible. He lost his job. His end up forsaking his wife and family. Gage died about 13 years after the accident. The doctors don't really understand why this drastic change happens. But for the sake of science, the doctors asked Gage's family to allow Gage's skull to be kept in the Medical Museum in Harvard Universityfor research purposes. But until 1994, one of the world's most prestigious scientific journals, SCIENCE uncovers the mystery of Gage's accident. With the help of advanced computer modeling and X-ray's studies of the skull to try to pinpoint the exact part of the brain that actually had been damaged. All scientists concluded that Gage had lost a most important areaknown as the FRONTAL LOBE which is the front part of the brain. Later studies shown that the frontal lobe is responsible for moral reasoning and social behaviour.

Scientific studies show that the frontal lobe controls 3 things: Spirituality, Morality, The Will. A four year old girl was struck by a car and suffered damaged to bothsides of her frontal lobe. After the accident, she became: very bad temper, verbally and physically rude and violent. No sustained friendship. Sexually immoral from early teens. Heavy user of alcohol and marijuana. Attempt suicide twice. All who gone through frontal lobotomy suffer the same behavior change. I have more facts to give you but I don't have the time.

God created the frontal lobe as largest part of the human brain. It is the seat of judgment, reasoning, intellect and the will.It is the control center of our very being. No wonder the bible says in revelation chapter 22:4: "And they shall see his face; and his name [shall be] in their foreheads." His Name, or His character will be in their foreheads It doesn't say ON the foreheads, but the KJVersion says IN their foreheads. The bible is talking about the frontal lobe! Dr Neil Nedley had written the book Proof Positive.He explains how life style may affect our frontal lobe. Dr Neil list down drugs which will weaken or damage our frontal lobe: Drugs,both legal and illegal. Certain medication such aspain-relievers such as panadol, sleeping pills, Asthma medication, anti histamine and many others which affect the mind. Let me tell you what Ellen White got to say: "Many are living in violation of the laws of health. They are ignorant of the relation that their habits of eating, drinking, and working have to their health. Instead of changing lifestyle, medications are generally employed. The heart and brain are frequently affected by drugs" In Dr. Neil's book he also detailly explain how Alcohol and Caffeine (ie Tea and coffee) injures the frontal lobe. I don't have time to tell you details.

Bad Diet also damages the frontal lobe. Dr Neil list down all:Bad diet such as High sugar intake, High fate intake, Meat consumtion, Less vege and Fruits. I know one diabetic patient which can't control her diet. She was in a very serious stage yet she is careless about her health. She just eat everything she loves. She lack of some basic logical judgement. Friends, can you see how diet can affect our frontal lobe? Dr Neil also written a long list how your home TV set may affect thefrontal lobe.He list down 17 harmful effects of TV watching which includes

Produce hypnotic effect, by pass the frontal lobe filtering

Weakens brain power

How about music? Dr. Juanita, Phd from the book Personal Communication wrote:

Music enters the brain through its emotional regions, which include the temporal lobe and limbic system. From there, some kinds of music tend to produce a frontal loberesponse that influences the will, moral worth, and reasoning power. Other kinds of music will evoke very little, if any, frontal lobe response, but will produce a large emotional response with very littlelogical or moral interpretation. How about Hypnotisms like eastern mediation, yoga..etc? I just haveno time to tell you all. Dr. Neil explained how all those can weaken our frontal lobe. But the good news is that according Dr Neil Nedley, we can improve ourfrontal lobe by.Here is the good news: Protect from mechanical injury like sport, Improve your brains blood supply, Good Nutrient, Exercise, Enough sunshine, Control what we see and hear.

Using your frontal lobe Dr Neil also stress that prayer can indeed strengthen our frontal lobe. Meditation, not the eastern medication, but meditating God's word will improve our frontal lobe. By reading the bible also strengthens the intellect. Now we can see how our life-style affects our frontal lobe. Now we understand why Paul in Romans 12:2 is telling us: Be not conformed to this world. Now we understand, what Revelation 22:4 mean,"And they shall see his face; and his name [shall be] in their foreheads." God's name, his character will be in our frontal lobe

The 3rd angels call all of us not to receive the mark of the beast inour foreheads. Can you see the controversy of the Mind? Satan wants to control your mind! No wonder why Satan is introducing TV in every home. No wonder why Satan is introducing cool action movie, cute cartoonseries which capture both young and old. No wonder why Satan is introducing bad diet such asfinger-licking-good fast food. No wonder why Satan makes you so busy that you forgot to pray and havedaily devotion with God. No wonder why Satan introducing electrifying rock music to church. How about for those health conscious? Satan gives them eastern meditation!

Dear friends, please see how unsafe we are if we are not in the hands of Jesus. God through His servant EG white has given us many health messages! All the NEWSTART step is to help us to strengthen our frontal lobe! The last crisis John is a Seventh-day Adventist church member. One night, John was watching his favorite action movie on HBO. He was in his full attention watching bad guy kill a young girl cruelly. At the process of killing suddenly, the action movie stops for awhile for television commercial advertisement. John grabs his TV-remote control and he switch channel to CNN. To his horror, he saw, an airplane flies toward the US world tradecenter building and crash into it. At the same time, that very night, I was surfing the internet. I was checking email and happying chatting with my friends. Suddenly, my friend sends me a message that looks like this: "Four U.S. planes hijacked by terrorists crashed into the World TradeCenter, the Pentagon killing nearly 3,000 people in a matter ofhours." The destruction of the New York Twin tower stirs the world.

There are 2 person predict the 911 event. One of them is the astrologer(or bomoh), Nostradamus who predicts this particular event during about 1600AD. His prophecies were vague and many were inaccurate. But yet, many people flocking at the bookstore to buy his book. You see, how Satan wisely fool the world. He is telling that all his prophets can be trusted. He lead people to believe in Astrology, Believe in Feng Sui, Believe in Palm readings. Look!, how Satan counterfeit God and His word. Born on Nov. 26, 1827, Ellen White stops attending school at the age of 9 due to physical illness. But in her both weakness and meekness, God uses her to be the last day messenger who had written more than100,000 pages for publication. All her work is warn and at the same time bring comfort to God's final people. One of her book Testimonies for the Church Volume Nine, page 11, VOLUME 9 PAGE 11911.

This looks so real! The title she wrote, "THE LAST CRISIS" She wrote, (let me read this to you): "On one occasion, when in New York City, I was in the nightseason called upon to behold buildings rising story after story towardheaven." At that time, the tallest building in New York is just 100meters high.Nobody dream that a building can be 400meters high! She continues, "These buildings were warranted to be fireproof,""Higher and still higher these buildings rose, and in them the mostcostly material was used." We all know that the USD 750 million building is made of steel.Nobody dream that the tough building will be burnt down. EG white continues, "The scene that next passed before me was an alarm of fire. Men lookedat supposedly fire-proof buildings and said: "They are perfectly safe." But these buildings were consumed as if made of pitch. The fire engines could do nothing to stay the destruction. The firemen were unable to operate the engines." From television and video clips, we saw that the steel building burning fiercely.It is so hot that the steel just melt down to the ground.The fireman, as just written by EG white, just can't do anything. All they do is just stand there and watch. Some brave fireman went in and safe victims but the building justcollapse and sadly, they too die. You see, God gives Ellen White the vision for a purpose.It's not just for fun or just for fulfilling our curiosity He gives us that to tell us something.

Look at the title again: "The LAST CRISIS" Its means that after this 911, Jesus will be coming back again! Real soon. Can you all see the urgency? But why after 4 years, today, Jesus is not back? Why Jesus is not back yet? Why when all the signs in Matthew 24 fulfilling in our own eyes, andJesus is not back yet? We had already saw how SARS, Avian flu swept through ASIA. We saws rumour of war and kingdom rise again kingdom. We even saw Tsunami recently. Let's turn to Revelation 7 Chapter 7 7:1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the fourcorners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. 7:2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, 7:3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. Early writings, Page 37 I saw four angels who had a work to do on the earth, and were on theirway to accomplish it. Jesus was clothed with priestly garments. He gazed in pity on the remnant, then raised His hands, and with a voiceof deep pity cried, "My blood, Father, My blood, My blood, My blood!"

Then I saw an exceeding bright light come from God, who sat upon the great white throne, and was shed all about Jesus. Then I saw an angel with a commission from Jesus, swiftly flying to the four angels whohad a work to do on the earth, and waving something up and down in hishand, and crying with a loud voice, "Hold! Hold! Hold! Hold! until theservants of God are sealed in their foreheads." {EW 38.1} I asked my accompanying angel the meaning of what I heard, andwhat the four angels were about to do. He said to me that it was Godthat restrained the powers, and that He gave His angels charge overthings on the earth; that the four angels had power from God to hold the four winds, and that they were about to let them go; but whiletheir hands were loosening, and the four winds were about to blow, the merciful eye of Jesus gazed on the remnant that were not sealed, and He raised His hands to the Father and pleaded with Him that He had spilled His blood for them. Then another angel was commissioned to fly swiftly to the four angels and bid them hold, until the servants of God were sealed with the seal of the living God in their foreheads.

Friends, God is waiting for his Remnant. His remnant means you and me. If not Jesus blood and pleading, John and I will be lost forever. The theater story Pastor Toh See Wei once told a story. There was a famous Chinese opera group which go kampong to kampong to act. They are so famous that every kampong is eagerly waiting for this opera group to come. Once this opera group come to a particular kampong, every body, young and old, will flock to the theater to watch theopera group to act. From Ah Gong to Ah Ma to Ah kia, This opera group come to one of a kampong. Wah! The whole kampong is so happy. Each and every people in the kampong come to the small kampong hall to watch the opera group sing and act. The kampong hall is so small and hot but the people don't mind squeeze in it. So the play started and it was very exciting. Suddenly, there is a fire coming through the windows. It looks so real! And the audience clap their hands! Wow! They says, now so high-tech, got new effect! The opera actors saw the fire, and they stop acting. Their face turn pale. The audience clap louder! Look! So real! This time the actor act better with real face expression. The actor ran away from the stage, And the audience clap and cheer even louder! Suddenly, the opera manager came in to the stage. He shout loudly! He says, ladies and gentleman, the fire is real! The fire is going to burn the whole hall down! Please don't be panic and please proceed to the exit immediately. There is only one small exit and please go out one by one. There is still more time. And the manager ran away! The audience clap their hands louder and they cheer. This time the manager also come and act! But as the fire grow bigger, the kampong members only realize that it is real. But it was too late. The exit is already on fire. Every body die in it.

Sabbath after Sabbath, the preacher preach about God's 2nd coming on this stage. And most of us like the kampong audience says.. Wah.. Nice sermon leh. Powerful sermon leh. That pastor Good leh.

Ladies and gentleman, it was not too late now. God had given us the 3 angles message to our church. You can read it in Revelation chapter 14:7 He is giving us the final warning so that his Bride will prepare herself for the Bridegroom to come. "Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come:" "Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city" " If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive [his] markin his forehead, or in his hand" Oh! What a joy when Christ coming back and take His bride, His people. What a joy when He call you individually by name,What a joy when He looks at you face to face and calls "My sons, or mydaughter!"And He turns to the universe and proclaims: "Here is the patience of the saints: that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. Revelation 14:12" God is pleading to you today. He wants you to give up all the bad habits, He knows your weekness.He cares for you.But He is telling you today. "You can do all things through Christ that strengthens you!"All things which includes overcoming temptation. All we have to do is to surrender our life to Him today.God Bless Us.
